Bonnie is back!

The Original Bonnie is back!

The first and second official re-releases of the original five books in The Bonnie Books series are now available through Amazon via the links below.

The Sweet Running Filly on Amazon

A Horse Called Bonnie on Amazon

Originally written in the early 70s, this series of YA horse books is being re-released for new generations as well as for its now-grown fans. Collectively, the series has sold over a million copies. Local Ocala-based artist Sally Ann Lyle [ www.sallylyle.com ] has helped to breath new life into these classic favorites.

If you would like to read more about the series and it’s author, Barbara Van Tuyl, you can follow us on Twitter @thebonniebooks. And don’t forget to leave a Like for us on Facebook!

Oops! Two-for-one

Late nights are seldom conducive to accuracy, so everyone got a two-for-one last week when I posted about the new cover for book one. You got a look at the cover for the original The Sweet Running Filly, BUT the sneak peek was actually for book two, A Horse Called Bonnie. /facepalm

Now I could have swapped out the image and no one would have really known (except us), but I decided to go ahead and let both out of the bag instead. So here are the sneak peeks for both books, corrected!

Book One, The Sweet Running Filly, originally released in 1971 (with the REAL cover peek).

And Book Two, A Horse Called Bonnie, also originally released in 1971 (with the correct original cover).

We hope you are enjoying the behind the scenes peeks. I am a big fan of Sally Ann Lyle’s work, so it has been a pleasure sharing the new covers with you all. Stop by Sally’s site and take a look at her other work when you get a chance, she has some beautiful pieces.

And, if you are local, don’t forget to stop by the Authors in the Park event on March 29th in Mount Dora. Barbara and I will both be there with our books and we look forward to seeing you! (And don’t forget to pick up your free bookmark!)

Hoping for the winner’s circle

A Special Kind of Courage has been entered into the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards under the YA Fiction category. Their 7th contest, the grand prize and four 1st prizes are publishing contracts with advances. Winners will be notified in July after several rounds of judging and reviews. I’ll post when excerpts go up for public review so you can get involved.

Courage is also being entered into the Florida Authors and Publishers Association’s (FAPA) 2014 National FAPA President’s Awards in the YA Fiction category. Winners will be announced the first week of July and honored at a banquet in August.

Barbara and I have also confirmed to share a pavillion for the Authors in the Park event in Mount Dora, FL on March 29th. Barbara will have copies of Courage, and possibly The Sweet Running Filly and A Horse Called Bonnie, at the event. I will keep you posted, but set the date aside to come out and meet Barbara. You can pick up a free bookmark, too!

The sweet filly is still running

Book One of the Bonnie book series, The Sweet Running Filly, originally released in 1971, is being re-released this month!

Barbara has been working through the original five books to make sure they are ready for release. Sally Ann Lyle, the cover artist for A Special Kind of Courage, will grace the covers of all five re-releases.

Here’s a sneak peek at the new cover for book one alongside the original 1971 cover…

Revisiting an old friend, The Sweet Running Filly

cover_sweetrunningBook 6 out and available on Amazon now, Barbara and I are already reviewing The Sweet Running Filly for rerelease through Amazon’s CreateSpace in both print and Kindle formats.

The first of five in the original Bonnie books series,The Sweet Running Filly sold over 210,000 copies when it was released in 1971 by Signet, and was translated into several languages.

Looking to rerelease all five books in the series, we will have a better idea of what our release schedule will look like after this weekend. We are also thrilled to mention that our new cover artist, the incredibly talented Sally Ann Lyle, will be doing all five books to go with Barbara’s newest release.

We will keep you posted on our progress and might even give you a peek behind the process along the way. Till then, keep calm and Bonnie on!

The Return of Bonnie

cover_Courage_goodreadsA Special Kind of Courage is officially out and available on Amazon!

The first book published by Barbara in over 30 years, we are incredibly happy to be able to share this newest installment in the Bonnie books series with all of her fans.

I’m very proud to be a part of this project and have had the chance to talk to people about the books recently. Barbara has been humbled on more than one occasion with compliments like “I read those books as a child! I love Bonnie!” and it has been wonderful to see how much of an impact her books had made on people. It is my hope that the series sees a resurgence of interest and support, through not only previous fans, but new generations as well.

Barbara and I will be on hand for her first A Special Kind of Courage book signing this coming weekend in Ocala at United Hay Sales from 12noon until around 3:30pm. More about that next!

In the saddle,
Ria

Courage

Putting the finishing touches on book six in the Bonnie Books series, A Special Kind of Courage. The original five books were released in the 70s and were very well received, selling an average of over 200,000 copies each. Released as a box set in 1975, you can still find a few copies on eBay.

Once Courage is up, we will start working on re-releasing the original five books.

This is the OFFICIAL site approved by the author.

We will be keeping you posted along the way and you can get involved by checking out our Contact page for links to Barbara’s social networks.

Back in the saddle again,
Ria & Barbara
